The Metrolab Story

Metrolab designs and manufactures a line of their own unique Clinical Chemistry Analyzers. Metrolab's primary objective is to offer a variety of flexible instruments for the global markets that are reliable, cost competitive while providing superior after-sale service and support.
For more than 35 years, UV-Vis Metrolab S.A. (now named Diatron Chemistry) has designed, manufactured and marketed semi-automatic and automatic random access analyzers from manual, semi-automatic, to a system that can process to up to 720 tests per hour for:
- Clinical Chemistry
- Electrolytes
- Immunoturbidimetry
- Coagulation
These instruments have served a variety of markets over the years including medical, veterinary, industrial and research laboratories.
Throughout the world, Metrolab's instruments are marketed under Metrolab trade mark, as well as Diatron Pictus name, through distributors, and in many cases represented by companies who have an OEM arrangement with Metrolab.
Behind each instrument lies a professional team of experts in micromechanics, optics, fluids, electronics, quality control and software. These seperate teams work in concert with one another to develop and manufacture unsurpassed quality instruments at very competitive prices.
Metrolab warrants the quality of its products through a Quality System under the ISO 9001/2000 Standard.
35 years in Chemistry
The company began in 1975 by manufacturing photometers and measuring instruments.
By 1985 it launched the spectrophotometer ultra/violet system M 330, and the flame photometer M 315 for the direct measurement of Na, K and Li in serum and urine.
1990: Metrolab introduced to the market their first semiautomatic clinical analyzer; the M 1600 Plus.
1995 represented a watershed moment for Metrolab as they launched the M2100, the predecessor of M2300 Family , today called Pictus family.
In keeping with Metrolab's commitment to their quality procedures and process improvement, they continually improve the performance and reliability of their analyzers leading Metrolab to unveil new versions of their products to the market.
2000: Metrolab introduces the M2300 (Pictus 200). The Pictus 200 represents an option for the smaller volume laboratories while enjoying many of the same features as the larger Metrolab instruments. Also in 2000, the company introduced the M 1600 DR (Pictus Basic) a completely updated version of their prior semiautomatic clinical analyzer. This system emphasizes ease of operation and also offers the option of adding a keyboard for workiing directly with the instrument.
In 2005, Metrolab enters the higher volume chemistry test market with the introduction of the M4000 (Pictus 700 ) The Pictus 700 is Metrolabs first floor model instrument and by far their fastest analyzer to date with throughput of up to 700 chemistry tests per hour.
Like Diatron hematology, Diatron Chemsitry is committed to this market and will continue to utilize many resources for the development and expansion of their chemistry line. Diatron utilizes an „outside in" approach for product development. They listen explicitly to understand the needs of their customers as they continue to develop and improve their entire instrument line.
